"Qué tal" means what´s up in Spanish. I'm going to talk to you about the language exchange "que tal" party that we celebrate in Santander every summer and which has been going on for the last ten years. This is a meeting point for many people who are not only interested in learning languages but in the culture and people behind them. I haven't been able to record a podcast for each picture. That's why you'll have to read the information for the three first pictures.
You can see and listen to the whole story from top to bottom.

This is an idea I had a few years ago and which has become popular today. Since language is not only a question of words but of culture we decided to mix the students who came to Santander to learn Spanish with our students at the school of languages. And that's how everything started.
We hold three parties every summer. After 10 years we have registered at least 2500 f2f language and culture exchanges. This means people meet after their lessons and help each other to practise the language they are learning. As far as I know the "que tal language exchange parties" were the first international students' cafes to be organised by Universities. They started even before the Comenius students exchange programme!

After the opening words everybody moves around to find somebody they would like to talk to. People carry a sticker with their name, the language they speak and their nationality.
